Artist's Comments

Yes, yes, I realize this wasn't even one of the pics in my wip post. That's cuz I just found it again yesterday and so did it all this morning.

Anyhow, this is one of my favorite linearts by :iconnami86: and as I was trolling through her gallery again lately I was suddenly hit with inspiration to attempt this one. Not only is it a lovely sketch (one of my favs) but it also gave me the chance to work on backlighting, moonlight, and skin - none of which I'm not terribly good at yet. So if you have any critiques feel free to let me know - I'm still pretty low-level in the skillz area but am slowly working my way up. Huzzah. Done in about 1, maybe 2 hours?

Oh yeah, and again I compared my monitor to the parents' and mine is so much darker, even on the brightest setting. So when I checked my original version of this on the other comp it was horrendously bright so I set it much darker before uploading it. Hopefully that got it down enough, but it's hard to really tell on mine here. *shrug* So I guess let me know if it's too bright for ya?

Anyhow, someone on my f-list put up an interesting poll that has this link here that lets you check the brightness calibration of your monitor. Yup, as you might have guessed, I can't see a single number. (You should be able to see somewhere between 1-10 with 10 being the brightest visible.) Man. If my monitor didn't show things so prettily I'd try to upgrade. Meh.

Anyhow, enough rambling. Hope you enjoy.

Edit: With my spanky new monitor I could see how whacky this looked so I went and fixed it.

Why thank you. Glad you liked ^_^

This is really pretty - the nighttime setting is wonderful and the moonlighting is awesome. Good job! And it seems just right to me - at least on my monitor it does.

Good job with the contrast with her collar bone :D

If you find that me talking to myself is strange, then you'll get a pleasant surprise when the voices start talking back.

Well thank ya. I still have a long way to go to get the shading correct for the muscles/bones in anatomy, but think I improved a bit with how that one came out. Yay ^_-
:iconflametwirler:
Well thank you dear - I'm having fun playing with new lighting. (especially realizing how unrealistically I'd portrayed it in my last painting. practice and practice more, huzzah ^_- )

But yeah, it annoys me that it's really dark on my computer (which is how I want the pic to be viewed) but it's so vivid on my parents' comp that it looks twilight instead of night. Gah. Oh well, what can you do? Anyhow I'm glad to hear it looks good with your settings. Yay!

Haha, almost makes me glad that I don't draw. ^^ But I get it. My husband has 2 monitors on his computer, and his wallpaper stretches across both of them. The color is off on one of them, and it makes a BIG difference in how you percieve it.

Oh goodness, that's really funny. I'm a bit too OCD - having two monitors that didn't match would drive me BATTY!

I know! Me too! I constantly have to keep myself from going in there and fixing it! The stupidest things annoy me, lol.
